Thursday 3rd August – walk *** Landguard Nature Reserve Circuit – mainly cloudy.

I was tempted by a trip across the border into deepest Essex for a windsurf foil on the River Stour but the forecast was due to drop and it was a gloomy day threatening rain and after four days of foiling I decided to give it a miss. For the third weekend in a row it is once again looking pretty breezy but sadly it might be wet, where has the summer gone???
Back to today, after missing out on my exercises for four days I could get back on track with them, then it was nice to do something with Mag, as we needed to go shopping at Lidl we decided to drive down to The Manor for a walk around Landguard Nature Reserve.Stopping on the way to take a couple of pics of the new ferris wheel being constructed we parked near the new caravans and started off taking the really overgrown path through the blackberry bushes absolutely full of berries now, could be a good year for crumble and also they were full of butterflies, always lovely to see:) Not many bunnies out today as in the middle of the day as we headed to the small wooden peir where you could see the dredger busy on the shipping channel right near the container ship in the first berth with a couple of old wooden saling boats heading up the Orwell in the distance. The best part was the large number of starling foraging on the beach. Continuing along the Orwell before turning left across the reserve, up over the small hills and back to the van. Then a quick trip around Lidl for our monthly shop and home for lunch.
